Sunspray appoints new Marketing Manager
RENÉ CROSS BRINGS 24 YEARS OF TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
Sunspray Food Ingredients, formerly Nutritional Foods, has appointed René Cross as its new marketing manager.
Cross brings an extensive 24 years of experience in the food industry with her, having started out with Nestle SA in 1981 soon after completing her National Diploma in Food Technology.
Cross began her career in quality control as a microbiologist and progressed through various other departments including chemistry, organoleptics and packaging. She joined Simba (later known as Fritolay) and after a total career experience of 12 years in quality control and quality assurance, she gained promotion to the position of production manager.
Six years later, having managed the company’s process lines and been on the teams for design and implementation of new manufacturing lines, Cross took the next logical step, into operations. This decision saw Cross move to International Flavours and Fragrances SA (IFF) in September 2000, as an operations manager for the next six years.
Her role at IFF included management of the production site, and at the same time Cross studied for the SAIM Business Management Diploma through Unisa. She became IFF’s business project manager for SAP implementation in November 2004. Cross also took on a commercial responsibility at IFF as account manager for a key global account.
Her move to Sunspray will give the company a new edge in its refocus on core products, which are spray-dried food ingredients including fruit powders, cheese powders, fat powders, caramel, creamers, tomato powders, milk blends, and meat flavours, as well as the newly added Ovipro range of egg products.
